وزير خارجية الأردن في بيروت: لمرحلة انتقالية تحفظ سورية

Attempted prisoner smuggling from Tripoli hospital foiled

  Security forces on Sunday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a prisoner out of a Tripoli hospital after he had been admitted for medical treatment. The National News Agency reported that an inmate in Tripoli’s prison cut himself with a sharp instrument, which required his transfer to a hospital in the city. A number of individuals later came to the medical facility in question where they tried to take him out. Suleiman: 95% Chance Elections Will Be Held, But Not According to 1960 Law

  President Michel Suleiman stated on Thursday that possible security dangers should not hinder the staging of the parliamentary elections, because these dangers will be more severe should the polls not be held and the term of the current parliament be extended. Three Lebanese freed after being abducted in Nigeria

  Lebanese nationals abducted in a Nigerian city were released overnight Thursday, the director-general of the Foreign Affairs Ministry told The Daily Star. Three Lebanese were abducted by gunmen from their home in the upscale Victoria Island area of Lagos earlier this week, a few weeks after two other Lebanese were snatched along with five foreigners in the country’s northern region. “All three were released and they were home and safe by midnight,” said director-general Haitham Joumaa. Cyprus Court Gives Hizbullah Man 4 Years over Anti-Israel Plot

  A Cyprus court sentenced a self-confessed Hizbullah member on Thursday to four years in jail after he was convicted of involvement in a plot to attack Israeli interests on the island. The official Cyprus News Agency said the criminal court in the south coast city of Limassol sentenced Hossam Taleb Yaacoub, a dual Lebanese and Swedish citizen, to four years minus time already served in prison since last July. Lebanese nationals abducted in Nigeria

  Three Lebanese nationals were abducted in Nigeria, the National News Agency reported. It added that the Foreign Affairs Ministries was informed on Wednesday of the abduction that took place in the capital Lagos. Last month, two Lebanese nationals were abducted along with five others, all of whom were employed by Lebanese-owned construction firm Setraco in the northern Nigerian state of Bauchi by militant group Ansaru. Kidnapping saga continues in Arsal

  Tensions continued to run high in the northern Bekaa Valley Thursday despite several promising developments in the hostage standoff that has troubled the region since Saturday. The Jaafar clan released three of their seven remaining hostages, but issued a stern warning to the people of Arsal that they would not free the rest until their own Hussein Kamel Jaafar was returned to them.
