Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour is to meet on Tuesday morning  with French Ambassador to Lebanon Patrice Paoli at his ministry, to discuss the case of George Ibrahim Abdallah.

Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, who was sentenced to life in prison in 1987 for his role in the 1982 murders of U.S. military attache Charles Ray and Israeli diplomat Yacov Barsimantov, as well as the attempted murder of U.S. Consul General Robert Homme in Strasbourg in 1984. A parole board agreed to his release on condition that he is expelled from France by Monday and deported to Lebanon, AFP reported on Thursday.

The United States has objected to the French decision and Paris the release of Mr Abdallah was suspended.

Two members of the Internal Security forces were shot on Monday during a sit-in that had been staged in front of the French Embassy in Beirut in objection to France's decision to suspend the release of George Abdallah. Earlier, demonstrators pelted the French Embassy's door with eggs, and blocked roads leading to its surroundings.
