STL defense attorney appointed to ICC list

Special Tribunal for Lebanon defense attorney Emile Aoun has become the first Lebanese lawyer appointed to the counsel list of the International Criminal Court, the STL announced in a news release Thursday. In February 2012, Aoun was assigned as defense counsel for Salim Ayyash, one of four Hezbollah members accused in the international investigation into the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and 22 others. Aoun continues to represent Ayyash at the STL despite his admission to the counsel list for the ICC, the news release said.
